PARAQUAD SA's SA Water 2012
Zoo Accessible Adventure Days

PARAQUAD SA was pleased to present our 12th Annual SA Water Accessible Adventure Days at the Adelaide Zoo from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th March 2012.

SA Water joined the event as major sponsor this year. SA Water is an internationally recognised water utility wholly owned by the Government of South Australia for the people of South Australia. SA Water delivers water and wastewater services to almost 1.5 million people across South Australia. With assets of more than $13 billion and more than 1500 staff, SA Water is a big part of the South Australian landscape dating back to 1856.

Hundreds of people attended the Zoo over the 4 day event, which offered $11.00 entry for people with a disability, free entry for their Carer, a discount for families and friends, free face painting each day and give-aways. To make the event accessible to everyone, PARAQUAD SA worked with the Zoo's friendly Volunteer guides, Royal Society for the Blind and Deaf Can Do to stage a number of special guided tours for the hearing and vision impaired guests visiting the Zoo.

Since it's inception in 2001, well over 10,000 people with a disability and their families and friends have visited Adelaide Zoo thanks to this event. The event was developed by PARAQUAD SA to encourage South Australians with a disability and their family and friends to experience the beauty and excitement of Adelaide Zoo in it's accessible environment.

The event was officially opened during a breakfast for over 70 guests on Friday 23rd March, which featured special guest speaker, Dr Stephanie Williams, CEO of the Spinal Cord Injury Network. Over 70 guests attended the breakfast, including seven Members of Parliament – Hon Russell Wortley MLC, Mr John Gardner, Hon Steph Key, Hon Jing Lee, Ms Rachel Sanderson, Hon Gerry Kandelaars and Mr Allan Sibbons – the event sponsors and PARAQUAD SA’s supporters.

PARAQUAD SA thanks the supporters of this year's event – SA Water and the Government of South Australia as major sponsor, Adelaide Zoo and its wonderful Volunteer guides, Andersons Solicitors, Advantage SA, Quality Catering, RPH Adelaide, Adelaide Independent Taxis & Adelaide Access Taxis, HOMECARE PLUS, Royal Society for the Blind  and Deaf Can Do.
